A large collection of shells from around the world
The Shell Museum houses a large collection of over 50,000 specimens, passionately assembled and beautifully displayed. As you walk past the display cases, you are taken on a journey around the world: Indonesia, the Philippines, America, Africa, Oceania... each shell seems to come with its own story and piece of the ocean. What is most striking is the diversity. Indeed, there are spirals with pearly reflections, giant shells shaped by the sea, and even micro-shells that can almost be seen as jewelry... You marvel at them, then find yourself reading the explanations, comparing them, looking for details. Some pieces, rarer or older, immediately catch the eye and make you want to linger. The visit also reminds us of something obvious: this beauty reflects a precious marine biodiversity that we must learn to preserve.
A visit suitable for the whole family
The Shell Museum isn't just for enthusiasts: curious visitors, children, parents, grandparents... there's something for everyone. You can visit at your own pace, alone, as a couple, or with your family, moving from room to room as if on a mini voyage across the ocean. What works particularly well with families are the two fun trails designed for children, with a little surprise at the end:
4–6 years old: guided discovery with Speedy and Glouton, ideal for observing, recognizing, and marveling.
7–11 years old: a quiz format that turns the visit into a mini treasure hunt.
And while the children play at being explorers, the adults can enjoy the collection to the full: everyone can proceed at their own pace, without frustration... and everyone comes out with the same desire: to discuss their favorite pieces and continue the journey, even after the visit.
An immersive journey through the great marine worlds
The Shell Museum takes you on a journey through several worlds that appeal to both children and adults alike. We often start with tropical shells, mainly from the Indo-Pacific region: the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Southeast Asia... A real trip around the world in just a few steps. Then the tour broadens your horizons: areas dedicated to corals, crustaceans (crabs, lobsters, crayfish, etc.), enormous giant clams, and even the sharks that regulate the oceans. The result: you leave with stars in your eyes... and, above all, with lots of stories to tell when you get home!
